(Dayton's mom. The original motivation for this project came from you, mom. Thank you and I love you!)
Christmas and family are forever linked as one. I have the fondest memories of my childhood, and hearing Mom’s record player playing Perry Como is etched in my memory — it just spelled Christmas. There are so many classic “Perry” versions of songs that I love, but this one would have to be my favorite. I remember lying by the record player, and as soon as the song ended, I would jump up to gently grab the record arm and move it to start the song again. Having a song on repeat was harder in those days — I had to be careful not to scratch the record. “Do You Hear What I Hear?” is just one of the many songs that brings me back to Christmas at home. I pray my own children have fond memories of their childhood Christmases.
“Do You Have Room?” is the perfect question we should each ask ourselves, not only at Christmas but throughout the year. It is a non-traditional song that sums up the meaning of Christmas. I love my Advocate, Redeemer, Friend, and Savior Jesus Christ. He is the answer to everything. Through Him I find peace, love, and comfort. When I try to be like Him, I am happier and find more joy in my everyday struggles — and even with the really big challenges. I not only believe in Him; I believe Him. He will make all things right. My relationship with Him is so important to me. I know He lives, and I know He will come again.
Christmas is the perfect time to surround ourselves with beautiful music and thoughts of Jesus Christ and His eternal love for each of us.
