(Dayton's aunt and uncle)
Dorothy Dayton:
The first time I heard or sang the song "There Are Angels Hov'ring Around," I was deeply touched. We were going through a very difficult challenge in our family—one that seemed to have no end—but we felt and believed that we had angels supporting and sustaining us and our children.
The lyrics are very simple:
"There are angels hovering ’round,
All heaven is full of joy,
Come, children, trust Him now,
For Jesus loves to save,
There is glory all around."
Even with such simple lyrics, they strongly testify of Jesus’ comforting and saving power—and of the timeless truth that if we trust in Him, He can help us through any difficulty we face. That is why He was born that first Christmas night. His mission is to save, and for that I give Him all the glory!
David Dayton:
I chose “O Holy Night” by GENTRI because when I first heard this song, I also had the opportunity to view a video that accompanied it. As GENTRI sang of that sacred and holy night, the video portrayed the goodness that comes through the Savior and His holy birth. It was really emotional for me to listen to GENTRI and witness the good that always abounds at Christmastime. If only we would carry that same spirit of love for all throughout the year.
I love my Savior, Jesus Christ, and I know that on that sacred, holy night in Bethlehem, everything on this earth changed for the better. His birth was the beginning of greater things to come—when He would show and teach us how to lead and direct our lives so that we too may someday partake of the ultimate gifts He bestowed upon us through His life, death, and resurrection.
I rejoice in knowing that because of Him, I have hope, faith, and the knowledge that I can be forgiven and will ultimately see Him face to face to thank Him for being willing to be my Savior and Redeemer. I hope to live my life in His light and share that light with those around me. He has taught me how to love, and I pray that I may share that love with others as He has shared His love with me.
